On a humid Monday evening the two top teams of Mens B Grade, Phat As and Old Spice  and The Boys faced off in a competitive, quick paced encounter. The two teams were separated by only a point at the top of the ladder and the difference between the two teams was minimal in the opening five minutes.

Phat As reeled off a series of long range shots in the early stages of the first half and only keeper Joel Knight kept the Old Spice a in touch as there defence was lacking when Phat As went quickly on the counter attack.

An injury to Old Spice captain Hugh Dixon in the first half left the team one defender down. Dixon rolled his ankle rushing back to the goal mouth to clear a shot and also collided with the right goal post. Robert Barkley came on as his replacement for the remainder of the game and his speed was useful in running down the attacking Phat As strikers. Phat As found themselves with extra numbers up front and took advantage of a series of defensive lapses with quick passing that led to two open goals.

Michael Rutten was a standout for Phat As as he scored two goals from identical spots on the right sideline in the closing stages of the first half that gave Phat As the clear advantage.

The game finished with a 10-5 to Phat As as they extended their lead at the top of the B Grade table. The loss saw Old Spice and the Boys slip to third on the ladder with the Scoregasms slotting into second after a 7-3 win over the Cougars.
